Today is the last to file your Form 2290 for Heavy Vehicle Use Tax, to avoid any possible IRS late fees, penalties and/or interest.  Due to the Labor Day scheduled IRS maintenance, the IRS Form has extended the E-Filing deadline until today, Friday, September 7, 2012. Paper filing is not an option, as the deadline for paper return deadline was NOT changed from August 31st.

IRS extended E-File Deadline for Form 2290

If you missed the Form 2290 deadline on Friday, August 31, 2012, there's no need to panic because the IRS extended the E-Filing deadline until Friday, September 7, 2012 due to their planned maintenance over the Labor Day weekend.

That means you can still file on time as long as you E-File (the paper return deadline was NOT extended).  If you intended on paper filing but missed the deadline, you will need to E-File instead to avoid possible IRS penalties.

Don’t know how to E-File or can’t get to computer?
