It’s Time To File For 2022 UCR Registration

The 2022 Unified Carrier Registration opened on October 1st, and the deadline is only getting closer!

It is important to note that there were no price adjustments from last year, so the amount will be the same depending on your fleet size!

The Unified Carrier Registration Act (UCR) is the primary method when it comes to registering commercial vehicles that travel through interstates.

The UCR must be completed along with the fee paid by December 31st, 2021 in order to legally operate your vehicle.

What Are The UCR Fees?

You must register and pay the UCR fee every year and the amount is based on the size of your fleet.

The chart below displays the filing fees:

You will need to enter your USDOT number to register for UCR. Once you complete this process and pay the fee, You have completed your UCR registration!

You need to have your USDOT number on hand to simplify and speed up this process.

Any vehicle that meets any of the following requirements must have a USDOT number:

  • A vehicle that transports cargo or passengers

  • Has a gross or combined weight of 10,001 lbs or more

  • Transports 8 or more passengers for compensation

  • Transports 15 or more passengers that are not for compensation

  • Transports any hazardous materials

Merry Christmas Trucking Nation!

Merry Christmas from everyone here at Truck Services of North America! We hope you’re having a great holiday season so far, whether you’re on the road working hard, or just relaxing at the house with some friends and family.

Without you truckers, this holiday wouldn’t be possible. No Christmas trees, no turkey dinners, and no presents. That’s right, we have you all to thank for all the wonderful presents nestled under our trees this Christmas.

Don’t forget that with the end of the year, in addition to all the New Year’s festivities, comes several trucking renewal deadlines.

End of the Year Trucking Deadlines

UCR:

The deadline for renewing your UCR registration is December 31, so you’ll need to have that done before the end of the year. We understand just how difficult and time-consuming this process actually is. So if you need help or want someone to take care of this pesky registration for you, then you know who to call.

HVUT:

The IRS will shut down from December 25 until mid-January. That means if you still need a 2020-21 Form 2290, you need to file before the shutdown. The IRS will not process any forms during the shutdown.

So while it may not be something that can be wrapped, bagged, or even placed under the tree, give yourself the gift of TSNAmerica this holiday season. With all the bustle going on around this time of year, who has time to deal with registrations and renewals? Only us—that’s who. So give us a call at 877.520.8640 and let us make your holiday season by taking the paperwork out of your way!

Please note that we will be out of the office on Christmas eve, Christmas day, New Year’s eve, and New Year’s day, so if you need anything during that time, we’ll be offering emergency email support during those times at support@tsnamerica.com.

2013 UCR Registration Now Open

Registration for 2013 Unified Carrier Registration began on October 1, 2012 and the deadline is December 31, 2012.  All motor carriers (for-hire, private and exempt) – as well as brokers, freight forwarders, and leasing companies operating in interstate or international commerce are subject to the UCR. Entities based in Canada and Mexico that are involved in interstate or international commerce in the United States are also subject to UCR.

Beginning in January 2013, states are implementing more stringent UCR audit procedures that in some states can be in excess of $1000 for your first offense.  You are able to register for previous years, so you will want to make sure you are registered from 2010 until now. You are required to maintain three years proof of UCR registration.

The Unified Carrier Registration (UCR) Plan and Agreement are part of a Federally-mandated, State-administered program that went into effect September 10, 2007.  Under this program, States collect fees from motor carriers, motor private carriers, freight forwarders, brokers and leasing companies, based on the number of qualifying commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) in their fleets. The revenues generated will be used for enforcement of motor carrier safety programs.

Who is Subject to UCR?
All motor carriers (for-hire, private and exempt) – as well as brokers, freight forwarders, and leasing companies operating in interstate or international commerce are subject to the new UCR.   Entities based in Canada and Mexico that are involved in interstate or international commerce in the United States are also subject to UCR.

Who is Not Subject to UCR?
The following groups are not subject to UCR:

(1) entities that receive USDOT numbers under the PRISM program as “registrants” but have no interstate operating authority;
(2) except when a state has adopted the UCR Program for intrastate carriers,  purely intrastate carriers, that is those that do not handle interstate/international freight or make interstate/international movements;
(3) private motor carriers of passengers, meaning those that operate as a private motor carrier engaged in the interstate/international transportation of passengers which is provided in the furtherance of a commercial enterprise and is not available to the public at large.

No UCR Credential is required to be carried in the commercial motor vehicle, but you can carry a copy of your UCR receipt if you choose to.

If you operated in previous years, back to 2007, and did not register in the UCR for those registration years, you must pay the prior year fees to avoid possible enforcement action.

As a premier processing agency, Truck Services of North America can assist you in obtaining your UCR.  TSNA takes the paperwork out of your way. For more details contact us at TSNAmerica.com or call 803.386.0320.
